Most Scenic Ice Rinks in London!

Christmas may seem so far away still, but really, were just over four weeks away, so that means all the stores have christmas music on, and you feel like you’re the only one who hasn’t yet bought everybodies christmas presents. Yes, it’s still November. The cold is still here though, so hats and scarves at the ready because we can at least start enjoying the festivities right? With November, comes all of the best ice rinks opening up over the winter season. Whether you’re a master of the ice rink, or you’re just like bambi barely keeping yourself off the floor, ice skating is great fun, with a partner or friends! If that’s not a good enough reason, just think of the cute insta pics you can get. Even though there are dozens dotted all over London, we have picked out our favourites on the best landmarks of London!

Starting off with the Tower of London, every year they set up a beautiful ice rink down in the dry moat. You can get wonderful views of the ancient fortress and the river Thames. The 104 square meter ice rink has a cafe for food and drink off to the side and a place for people to watch and tally up how many people fall over in the space of twenty minutes. It’s a great day for everyone! It’s open up until the 5th of January 2020, so you have lots of time to go, but make sure you book ahead as it’s one of the biggest Landmarks of London.

Heading over now to Somerset House, they set up a massive 900square meter outdoor rink within the eighteenth century courtyard, for now their twentieth year anniversary, so you can say it’s pretty festive. Same as before, no matter what skill level your at with skating you're bound to have a good time, but this year you have the risk of running into a forty foot christmas tree in the centre of the rink, so just try to miss that when slipping over. Afterwards you can sink your teeth into some hot snacks and drinks in the Skate Lounge which offers winter classics like raclette, cheese fondue, smoked salmon and mince pies alongside champagne and mulled wine. For mtruly hardcore skaters, they are offering an amazing 24 hour skate on December 7th, make sure to book your tickets aheas though! If that isn’t your style then you can head over to the Christmas Arcade for a chance to stock up on Fortnum's goodies before the big day. Open up until the 12th of January 2020 you can go all throughout the winter time to really make the most of everything it has to offer! We suggest taking the time to go when it’s dark out to see all the beautiful lit rooms surrounding the ice rink.

Finally heading over to the amazing Natural History Museum Ice Rink. This one is truly beautiful, set in front of a beautiful backdrop of Alfred Waterhouse's buildings, a row of trees dripping in fairy lights and a majestic Christmas tree in the middle of the ice. It’s definitely become a London classic. Afterwards you can warm up with their indoor cafe and bar that overlooks the ice and you can laugh about the people falling over even though you were doing the same only ten minutes ago. A great part of this one is that they also offer wheelchair user sessions too, you can check their website for the dates they offer on those. This one is open the longest from the end of October up until the 22nd of January 2020, so we’ve already had the chance to enjoy this one already.

We hope you get to enjoy the winter festivities even if you;re a bit of a humbug about Christmas!
