The weather is warming up again, and we’re all wanting to get out and about, sometimes our wallets just can’t hold up to all the summer activities though. So whether you’ve lived here your whole life or you’re new to London, taking in some culture, and for free are high up on the list of best things to do when you’ve spent all your money on the Uber home the night before. So, if you want to make the most of your day off, then you can get round to one of the many free museums of London! The majority of London’s best museums are nationally run, so don’t cost visitors a penny. Donations are always welcomed at these places, so if you feel really moved, and you have a couple pound left in your pockets then I’m sure you may feel just a little better about yourself. Easter Weekend in London!

Image
It may only be April, but it’s about time we get a well deserved four day weekend. Considering they come round only once a year, the weather would tell me that now’s the perfect time for it. This year Easter Sunday falls on the 21st of April, there’s lots more fun to be had though, as from Good Friday to Easter Monday London always pulls out all the stops when it comes to Easter! Not just for the children over the half term, but for the adults who have no idea how to spend their time off! Being one of the only socially acceptable times of the year to eat way too much chocolate, we thought you may want to get out of the house at least once. So we’ve put together a few events and places to go for when you’ve decided you can’t eat a single bit more of that Easter egg. Starting off with Good Friday, and an annual tradition in Trafalgar Square. The passion of Jesus, is an incredible open air performance by the Wintershall Players. Completely free to attend, just turn up, it tells the s...

NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL

Image
How Notting Hill Carnival Came About Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street festival in Europe and originated in 1964 as a way for Afro-Caribbean communities to celebrate their own cultures and traditions. Taking place every August Bank Holiday weekend in the streets of London. The Notting Hill Carnival is an amazing array of sounds, colourful sights and social solidarity. The carnival dates back to the Abolition of Slavery Act in 1833 and the first Caribbean carnival which was held in Trinidad. The carnival was a celebration of freedom which was expressed through song, dance and flamboyant costumes. This tradition continued as each year people took to the streets and as large numbers of West Indian immigrants  traveled  to the UK in the 1950s, this spectacular event established itself in London. Evolution of the Notting Hill Carnival in London The first carnival in London took place in 1959 and was held in a town hall in St. Pancras and the tra...

Bank Holiday's best plans just 1 hour far from London!

Image
With bank holiday coming up this Monday, here are some fresh ideas for where to go if you fancy getting out of the city. Hop on the train at Victoria and you’ll be in Brighton in roughly 50 mins. It’s cool, you’ll be by the sea, it’s always sunny and there are loads of nice places to eat fish and chips , drink and people watch. You also can find cabaret, comedy, classical concerts, theatre and loads of other stuff to keep you entertained. Not up for Brighton? Then check out some of the Polo match fixtures in Sussex . People riding horses whilst hitting balls with sticks, free entry and a licensed bar serving bubbles all sounds pretty good to us. Our next suggestion is punting in Oxford. Head down to the  Magdalen Bridge Boathouse where you can choose to hire a rowing boat, pedalo or punt. If you’re feeling a little lazy you can even enjoy a chauffeured punting experience. Moreover, there is plenty more the city has to offer. Go for a wander aroun...
