Happy 2019 London!

So we’re already a couple of weeks into 2019, and we’re dealing with snow, Brexit, and all the other issues that come with being a Londoner. There is still a lot of high hopes for 2019, lots of new opportunities off the back of a fresh start. With so many events this year, lots of festivals, art exhibitions, and a lot of culture to take in aswell there’s no way you can’t let the fun distract for at least a few hours from the rest of the mess happening right now. We will be posting new blogs weekly about lots of events, tip, and tricks of London and more, but for now let’s talk about some of the biggest events this year so you have a few things to look forward to! Starting off with Chinese New Year Celebrations. In 2019, Chinese New Year will fall on the 5th of February and celebrates the Year of the Pig. With the majority of the festivities placed in Trafalgar Square and Chinatown on the 10th of February! You can watch the colourful Chinese New Year parade pass through the street...

CHINESE NEW YEAR 2014 A bit of history... According to tales and legends, the beginning of Chinese New Years started with the fight against a mythical beast called the "Year". The "Year" looks like ox with lion head and it stays in the sea. At the night of New Year's Eve, the "Year" will come out to harm people, animals, and proprieties. Later people found that the "Year" is afraid of red color, fire, and loud sound. Therefore, for self protection, people form the habit of posting red Dui Lian in front of the house, launching fireworks, and handing lantern at year end. Traditions... Dinner The New Year's Eve dinner is the most important dinner for Chinese. Normally this is the family reunion dinner, especially for those with family member away from home.
