October's Spookiest Things To Do In London
October is only four days away, and that means all of the Halloweeny spooky things are as well. You may believe that Halloween is for one day only but London is spooky all year round. You can’t escape the scares when London has survived everything, including the plagues, the Great Fire of London and a whole lot more. If you’re brave enough to head down to a few of our favourite spooky spots then you can have a great October with a bunch of scares. If you think you’re too old for trick or treating then we have a list of places you can visit, shows to see, and food and drink to get to keep you all in the Halloween spirit.
A great place to start and a bone-chilling experience, there is so much to do at the London Bridge Experience. Creepy clowns, menacing spiders, and walls dripping with blood are just a few of the scary things you’ll encounter whilst there. Taking a trip into the Bridge’s history, and going through the haunted London Tombs, this isn’t just a fun attraction but very real stories of London and everything creepy that’s been going on down in the tombs. Next you can head down to the Clink Prison Museum, dating back to 1144, the prison’s walls have so many gory tales to tell. You can handle the torture devices used, and here all the awful things the prisoners had to go through there. At least you get to leave at the end of the day. Another historical place to go is the Old Operating Theatre Museum, try not to let it turn your stomach as you look into everything Victorian surgery had to offer, and most of the time it wasn’t a successful surgery, so who knows what ghosts are hanging around there.
If you’re done with all the scary historical things London has shown you so far you can head over to a great show. Whilst London theatre has so much to offer, we want to show you more of the creepy and scary side of things. The Woman In Black has been haunting London’s West End for over 25 years now. You may be watching it behind your hands the whole time, but it will definitely be worth it. If you don’t feel scared enough after that then you can go to the terrifying Ghost Stories showing where you can hear as the title says, lots of ghost stories. These aren’t for the faint of heart, so maybe head down to something a little bit easier on the stomach if you can’t handle it.
We’re sure you’ll be feeling at least a little bit peckish after all the scares, unless you’ve lost your appetite, but fingers crossed these places can bring it back for you. If you need a drink to start to forget all the horrors you’ve seen you can head down to The Ten Bells, which seems normal but its famed for being Jack the Ripper’s local bar. With reports of footsteps, and unexplained cold spots in the bar you can guess it’s a hotbed of paranormal activity. Next you can go on over to Hoxton Street Monster Supplies which stocks toasted bone chucks, petrified mice, and cubed earwax. All really tasty things for you to try, or maybe just gift them to someone else to see the look on their face. Now onto a great to celebrate Halloween, lots of halloweeny food. The Halloween Delicious History Tour is everything you could need to cover halloween. Dr. Andrea Tanner is putting a weird twist of Fortnum & Mason’s unusual tasting tours. You can learn all about the famous ghosts to haunt the Piccadilly building whilst drinking the strongest of Bloody Maries, and enjoy tastings all along the way!
Hopefully that will keep you on your toes throughout October, but don’t worry, if that’s not enough fro you we have lots of spooky blogs still to come!
