Competitive fun with friends!

We all need to brush off the stress of work sometimes and relax, but sometimes that relaxation can become pretty competitive when you go out for a game and drinks with friends. A casual game of golf or football can quickly bring out the most competitive side of you and the people you're with, especially when the fight talk comes out, that’s when you start placing the bets on who’s getting the rounds in after. As much as it can get super competitive, you’ll always go back because it’s just too much fun. So here’s a few places you can go to win a few rounds in, if you’re feeling confident in yourself. Maybe pick one you know you're good at.

Starting off with a classic, right from the decks of cruise ships in the early 20th century, we have shuffleboarding. After it was banned for 500 years it's starting to make a come back apparently. London Shuffle started as a pop up and has now taken a permanent place in Shoreditch, a big beautiful space with an open air shuffleboard terrace. The first of its kind in the UK. You can go here and enjoy their range of ales, cocktails, live music, and of course shuffleboarding. The offer up six lanes, four inside, and two outside. They also have table shuffleboard too if you don’t fancy running around with sticks. If you get a bit peckish after that you can always pick up one of their pizzas too.

Going onto another classic, that you’ve watched on TV but maybe didn’t think you’d ever get to play. The Crystal Maze, the cult classic 90’s show that has lots of fully interactive team-building games has now got a live game in London, just off of Shaftesbury Avenue. Following the Maze Master across the different places to complete all the games. Yes, this is a team game, the competitive feeling really comes through still. Especially when you’re behind the glass watching your friend who was adamant they were good at puzzles not only not get the crystal, but get trapped too, yeah it comes through then. So when you waste another crystal to get them back with you, you just have to hope they do well when you get to The Crystal Dome at the end.

Bringing it back to something a bit more casual, but still a fun twist, we’ve got PuttShack. It’s the traditional crazy golf but with an update that just makes it that bit more frustrating. With automatic point scoring, leaderboards, and intuitive gameplay, you don’t have to worry about keeping track of your scores, just incase your friend writing it down decided to give you a few more putts. Adding to the great fun of the evening, there’s food, drink, and music too. So if you’re worried about the fact your usual tactic of cheating isn’t going to work you can just buy a couple rounds and no one will remember who lost anyway.

Hopefully you can let your competitive juices flow with these places dotted around London, and you know there’s loads more too.
