How to be a kid at heart in London!
It doesn’t matter how old you are, we’re all pretty much kids at heart still . Whether our bodies can handle the physical strain that a child could is questionable, but we still give it a good go. So, as the weather is warming up and we’re all wanting to get out and do something with our time, it’s a great time to abandon all your adult responsibilities and jump into all the kid activities you miss dearly, because now if you show up to the ball pit, you’ll have some questionable looks from parents. But that’s not an issue anymore, because London essentially being a massive playground, there’s lots of opportunities for adults to be kids again and not looked twice at. So, let’s get right into just a few of the ways you can forget about that annoying pension plan.
First off we have an incredible place, that you’ll surely be out of breathe at in five minutes, but you’re a trooper and will keep yourself going till you’re passed out on the floor. It’s Flip Out London. The capital’s largest trampoline park opened up in the Granada Theatre in East Ham. This amazing art deco venue hosted some amazing events, with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Kinks being just a few of them that played the venue. Now though, with a £3 million renovation, the three storey building has so much to offer for any ages. With dozens of rows of interlocked trampolines, you can jump around for hours until your legs give out. If you’re over that though, there’s a 30ft vertical drop slide, if you’re needing to wake yourself up a bit after all the jumping around. There’s also a laser maze, ninja warrior course, and a dodgeball if you fancy getting competitive with friends. Then if you’re feeling a bit peckish there’s three themed cafes to get your fix before you can call it a day.
Next up is an option that’s a little more relaxed, and a whole lot more boozy. On Brick Lane is an underground venue that's called Junkyard Golf Club. It’s a crazy gold place that has lots of different courses that have interesting themes, and a bar on every one of them so if you’re wondering why you’re 9 shots over par then the bars will definitely explain that for you. Or if you didn’t drink that much you can use that as an excuse. With crazy themed courses and good music, you’re sure to have a great time with friends that hopefully won’t get too competitive. There’s a horror course that's all clowns, skulls, and carnival themed holes, but if that’s not your style then there’s a Jungle theme, a movie mash up theme for all the movie buffs, and a scrapyard theme too. They also serve food to, so you can have some hot dogs whilst you wait for your slot. And if you really get into the vibe of golf, you can buy one of their golf visors for just a couple quid.
Finally a very late night option for you, so if you’re looking to be a kid without the 8pm bed time then here’s a good option for you. Ballie Ballerson has given the kids gross but fun ball pit a great makeover. Split between two floors, the ball pit on the lower level in Shoreditch has over 200,000 balls so try not to get lost under all of that. With that there’s also foam toys, rubber rings and a DJ to keep the great music going. Then when you’re done in the ball pit you can head upstairs to the bar and restaurant where you can get pizza, fries, and craft beer, or some of the great themed cocktails, like the Skittle Sour, and Bounty Curly Wurly.
Hopefully there’s a few great options for you to be a kid in the busy corporate very adult London!
