Silent Discos of London

If you have no clue what a silent disco or a silent rave is then I can help you out. Basically, a silent disco or silent rave is an event where people dance to music but they’re only listening to it through noise-cancelling headphones. So everyone at the event will be given to them so they can enjoy their evening but for those who take their headphones off, they will hear no music. Which can look very interesting as it’s an entire room of people dancing to nothing? One benefit that’s quite new to silent discos is the ability to have multiple channels so you can pick what you listen to from a few select DJs. So, even if you and your friends are listening to different music, you can still have fun and enjoy each others company.

To further explain it, try to picture two different DJs spinning, but without any speakers setup. The floor is filled with hundreds of people all with headphones, singing and dancing. But there's no actual music from the DJ being played aloud. Instead, the music is playing straight into everyone's headphones. Everyone has the ability to switch between the two depending on what they want to be listening to. If you ever go to one of these events, and there's a balcony, go up there and you could probably figure out whos dancing to what music, and you’d probably be able to tell which DJ everyone's preferred too.

Here are a few Silent Disco events on in London this year! Definitely check them out if you’re looking for an entirely new experience!

Firstly you have The View From The Shard Silent Disco. It’s an incredible event If you want to experience a silent disco and one of the best views in London. There are three different DJs who all put on different sets, so you’re pretty much guaranteed to find something that you’ll enjoy and that fits your music tastes. Whilst this is all happening you can look out onto a beautiful panoramic view of the city for a truly unique experience. You can go every Saturday and it's on from 10pm till 2am!

At the Silent Disco at the SEA LIFE Aquarium, you can enjoy the amazing experience that is the London Aquarium combined with a silent disco. Two experiences that wouldn’t usually come together, so it will pretty much guarantee you an unforgettable time.  You’ll be able to enjoy the music on your headphones while admiring a variety of underwater creatures, including sharks, jellyfish, turtles, and stingrays. All without having to battle through the usual large crowds. As well as the disco, you’ll be treated to a special “chill out tour” of the brand-new jellyfish experience, which is sure to add an extra element of excitement and fun to your evening! There are two dates this year left, one on September the 28th and one on December the 22nd!

The silent Halloween Disco Party This incredible silent disco experience is definitely one to put in your diary for Halloween. Not only because it's a Halloween party, but it’s also on a boat! On October the 27th of this year you get to have an entire evening of fun! You’ll cruise the River Thames aboard an amazing two-storey boat, where you can tune in to your chosen Halloween soundtrack and delight in the spooky atmosphere. As well as the disco, the boat offers a bar, numerous games, and plenty of spooktacular treats to help you celebrate everyone’s favourite ghoulish holiday.

If you haven’t experienced the silent disco yet, the time is now. You’ll be grateful that you did. Maybe it’s because DJs are in. Maybe noise ordinances have forced us to think outside the speaker box. Maybe it’s simply the fact that this quiet clubbing is so weird yet exciting and immersive. But it is so much fun, you can actually speak to your friends when you're quickly nipping off to the smoking area rather than shouting at them for them to have no clue where you’re going anyway. Which makes it quite possibly the coolest thing ever. Whatever the reason may be, it’s time to jump on the bandwagon and ride the glorious sound wave of a silent disco.
