Where To Go To Watch The World Cup.
The World Cup is almost here. The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be the 21st FIFA World Cup so far, and It is taking place on the 14th of June until the 15th of July in Russia. They were awarded the hosting rights all the way back in 2010. For a full month this summer, we get to witness an amazing sport, but mostly it’s just an excuse to go to the pub.
But there’s going to be hundreds of places throughout London showing the World Cup, so we thought we would give you a list of just a few of them!
Tropicana Beach Club in Covent Garden is showing matches on giant screens, with their own special food menus available for the tournament! You can make a whole event of it, and they’ve got rooms to hire as well if you're planning on bringing all your friends with you.
Piana Works in Farringdon is usually a music venue, but for now, they're pausing the music to screen the matches. They’ve got planned special deals for you when a yellow or red card is given out and a cocktail hour too. So let’s hope there's some foul play this year.
Belushi’s in Camden is another good spot to go as they have multiple locations which are all going to have different specials events and offers going on. There's a deal you can order which is called ‘The Striker Package’ with two drinks tokens and a burger. Plus, you never have to leave your seat with the wait staff there for you.
Zlatans in Clapham is not a regular venue, the nightclub ‘Infernos’ has set up a World Cup pop-up named after the talismans Swedish striker. There's a huge screen, area style seating, and of course the usual football sing-alongs. You do have to book but it will surely be worth it.
The Devonshire, in Balham is a regular classic English pub, and they have a full list of all the matches they are planning on screening. You can even book one of the beach style cabanas for your own private screening party!
In Farringdon and Old Street is ‘Bounce’, both of the branches will be screening the England matches. But each branch will focus on specific countries so if you have any preferences other than England you know you can catch it all in one or the other! They do recommend booking as they are expecting it to get very busy. They're also having full brass bands, halftime shows and commentary as well for all of your celebratory needs.
Last Day of Shoreditch is an East London stalwart and has one of the biggest screens in London, showing all the England games, and a few other options too!
Belushi’s at Hammersmith or Shepherd’s Bush are both great places to go as they have lots pf special deals going on. With food and drink deals, great waiting staff at the table so you can keep your eyes glued to the screen.
So hopefully with all the buzz around the World Cup you still may be able to find a pub where you can expect a seat. Make sure to book through so you’re not left standing in the corner only being able to see a bit of the screen.
