Premier League Football
The
summer may be drawing to a close, however one thing to look forward to is that
the new football season is finally upon us. After months without regular week
in week out entertainment, if you’re an avid Arsenal fan, a cheerful Chelsea
fans, or maybe a sanguine Spurs supporter, you’ll be glad to know that the
action is back, and in finally in full swing.
If you’re not exactly the biggest follower Of English football, or particularly the premier league, I’ll give you a quick rundown. There’s 20 teams, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Brighton, Burnley...you get the point. Every team plays against each other twice, once at their home stadium, and the other being away from home, at their opponent’s stadium. This means that every team plays a total of 38 games, 19 at home and 19 away. Whoever finishes the season with the most points wins, simple right?
The
premier league, this season will celebrate its 26th year, and is
gaining popularity from all across the globe, making it is the most watched
football league in the world, fact. The majority of fans gather around their
TV’s, tablets and laptops to watch Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City,
Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham. These are considered to be the ‘big
six’, and are the real money makers in terms of the amount of fans, and also
the entertainment value that they bring. For me, the real entertainment lies
within the stadium, where you’re surrounded by tens of thousands of fans, all
chanting for the same team. You then have your opponents in another section
rooting their team on too, every premier league game has a sense of excitement
and intensity, as every game is as important as the next.
In
terms of accessibility, there is a total of 6 London clubs out of the 20 teams
within the league, those being Arsenal, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Tottenham,
Watford, and West Ham. West Ham have recently moved into the London Stadium,
home of the London 2012 Olympics, and is one of the most accessible stadiums in
London due to the transport links. More information on how you can visit the
home of West Ham for a stadium tour can be found in one of my previous blogs
based on the London Athletics Championships 2017, which were also held at the prestigious
location. Another London club with a new home, this one being temporary, is
Tottenham Hotspur, also known as Spurs. The second best club in North London
will be playing at Wembley for one season only, which is also the home of the
England football team, and is where many cup finals and concerts are held. More
information on how you can visit Wembley can be found at www.wembleystadium.com/Wembley-Tours.aspx.
For
the best stadium tour for the best club in London, you’ll want to head over to
the Emirates Stadium, the home of Arsenal FC. The North London architectural
masterpiece has been home to the gunners since 2006 and has a capacity of just
over 60,000. On this tour you will get to explore areas such as the Directors
Box, Home and Away Changing Rooms, Players Tunnel, Pitchside and much more. For
