The Best Board Game Bars in London!
As much as we’re in 2018, video games and VR are everywhere, one thing that you can’t love, is classic and fun board games. Some of us don’t remember board games very well other than the family arguments at Christmas when your nan was the banker in monopoly and shes pocketed your 200 pounds when you passed ‘GO’. However, now we’re in 2018, and fun classic and new board games are all the rage in London bars and cafes. You can join your friends, get competitive all whilst drinking the best beer, and eating the best food! Here’s the list of a few of our favourite spots in London!
Let’s start this list off with the leader in the market of board game cafes in London, Draughts! A bar and cafe with so many games on offer that you’ll be coming back all year before you get through them all. They have over 800 games on offer for customers to play! You do have to pay entry here, but it’s only a fiver and you can make an entire day and night of it if you're willing enough to! In that entry, you price you get completely unlimited plays and something you wouldn't normally expect. A games ‘guru’! They will offer you guidance in picking the best games for you and your friends to play, and how the rules work so there’s definitely no cheating by that friend who ‘played the game for years and made better rules’. All day long whilst you play your games you can get food, beer, wine, and cider so at least you won’t be left without nourishment from your super tough day.
The Loading Bar was originally heavily inspired by the cool streets of Tokyo, but over time it has taken on its own character and everyone wants to play. This bar offers up an entire wall of board games, so you and your friends have plenty to pick from! They also have some of the best classic and new card games, such as the ever-offensive ‘Cards Against Humanity’. However it's not just gaming this place offers up, they also have lots of game-inspired cocktails and run lots of events throughout the year!
A lot of places in London can end up being quite pretentious, but with this beautiful place, you won’t have to worry. The Three Compasses is known as one of the friendliest, most unpretentious boozers in London! This local East end pub has so much on offer to keep you busy, and tipsy! Dozens of board games, table football, and darts are all here for you to finally show your friends that you can actually beat them at all of these games. Every now and again they even show the odd TV show or film, just check out their site to find out when they’ll be screening!
Now, onto our last recommendation, the Rosemary Branch. It has a beautiful canalside location, even though you probably have your eyes glued to whatever game you’re playing at the time anyway. This place uses to be a Victorian Music Hall, now a pub-theatre, there’s honestly quite a lot more to offer at this place than just the games. However, we’re not here to talk about that so back to the games! A fine range of beer, wine, and lots more to pair with hours of games! Dozens of different classics to play, beautiful view, and great drinks! A perfect way to end our list!
We hope you get a chance to experience some of these amazing bars, and fingers crossed there are no arguments!
