Becoming A Brit: Afternoon-Tea

Afternoon Tea is the epitome of British culture. If you think of a 'typical' British person, your mind would drift to the likes of a good cuppa, scones and all the London tourist attractions you can think of! Today we have combined all of this wonderful history, to find you the most unusual afternoon teas in London. The tradition came about in the 1840's where there would be a long period of time between lunch and dinner. This was carried through time, adapted and loved by everyone. Of course, one thing is left unsettled. The age-old question, jam first, or cream? We don't want to start too many arguments so head over to our Instagram to have your say!

Everyone loves a theme, that's for sure! London is offering an exciting experience, where all your childhood dreams come true. Afternoon tea inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I don't think it can get better than this. Although this is on the expensive side at £62 per person this is an experience you will not forget. One Aldwych won the 'Best Afternoon Tea in London' Bookatable 2017. They have an extensive menu, including gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options available. Afternoon tea is only one service that One Aldwych offers. If you are looking for a high-class city break, this is the place to go. Stunning rooms, a spa, gym, restaurant and much more! This is your chance to self-indulge in some quality comfort and possibly, the best afternoon tea on the list!

Are you a vintage lover? Do you love tourism? Then this is the one for you. The vintage open-top bus tour is the place to be. The experience will see you on a classic red bus, traveling across London. Your professional guide will take you to the Tower of London and Buckingham Palace. You will then stop at the famous Harrods store to dine in their Georgian Restaurant to have a beautifully presented afternoon tea. If this doesn't sell it to you, then maybe the final private guided cruise will. You will glide along the River Thames with a private guide.

Next on our list is another themed tea. For all those Wonderland fans, we have a Mad Hatters Tea Party. This is all your wildest dreams coming to life; you will fall down the rabbit hole into an eloquent display of teapots and cakes. You will be surrounded by the utmost wonderland setting, fit for Kings and Queens. This beautiful experience is based in Fitzrovia, only a short distance from Oxford Circus. The venue is open Monday-Saturday 12:30pm-4:00pm and Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm.

If you love afternoon tea but like us you also love a bargain, this one might be for you! The Wolseley offers Cream Tea from £12.75 per person, as well as a full Afternoon Tea experience for between £29.75-£40 per person. Although cheaper than some of the other experiences, it is far from less.
