Record Store Day 2019!

In just a couple weeks it will be time for this year’s annual Record Store Day. Saturday April 13th isn’t just any other day, it’s a day where over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture and celebrate. It’s become so big now that many of London’s top music boutiques are planning to join in on the day!  It doesn’t matter whether you’re a vinyl enthusiast or just really enjoy the music there is something for you ! The best part about it all , is that besides the actual vinyls, pretty much all the events available are free. Live music from Djs and performers, lots of exhibitions and a couple pop ups too. There’s so much to do all throughout the day you won’t have a minute to sit down. So we thought we would show you the Rough Trade options on offer, because we couldn’t have any list about record stores if we didn’t include at least one Rough Trade, but don’t worry, this list has two of them! However you can jump on over to RecordStoreDay.co.uk to see what other independent record stores will be participating!

Firstly if you head down to the Talbot road, ‘Rough Trade West’ you not only will have access to over 500 exclusive titles to buy from, but they’ll also be having lots of live performances starting from the early afternoon! You can get there as soon as it opens at 8:00am if you’re wanting a to be first there for the front row seat for all the amazing live performances set up, such as the likes of Fontaines D.C., BLICK BASSY, WONK UNIT, KT Tunstall, Peter Doherty, and Celeste!

If that’s not exactly your cup of of tea, i’m not sure what you’re drinking but it’s okay because Rough Trade East is going to be open from 8:00am as well! Then with live music from 9:30am the bill includes Skinshape (DJ set), Our Girl, Black Country, New Road, Ady Suleiman, Big Joanie and H Grimace. Martin Jenkins will be bringing his eclectic electronic music project Pye Corner Audio, while Rhys Webb from The Horrors will also be jumping behind the decks. So whilst you’re enjoying the music you can have a look around at London’s best record store at the amazing exclusive vinyls on offer!

There’s lots of vinyls that have very small productions runs, vintage, and new to get your hands on. You can go on the Record Store Day website to have a look at some of the exclusive vinyls and CDs lots of people have designed just for the day. We’re eyeing up the ‘The Mighty Boosh’ Vinyl. Just remember that as lots of them will be limited runs, they won’t be available at every store participating in Record Store Day so maybe call ahead and check to see if they have the one you’re looking out for!

Hopefully you have a great day this Record Store Day, and you’re able to pick up some of your favourite vinyls and enjoy some great live performances!
