Things to do in Bank Holidays

Bank holidays for most of us mean a lovely long weekend when we can spend time with friends and family, doing the things we really enjoy. Most of the people decide spend this period in other countries but after reading this options below, you'll wonder why you even contemplated leaving.

1. Notting Hill Carnival

Notting Hill Carnival is the biggest street festival in Europe. Every year the music bring the sounds of the Caribbean to the streets of the capital, while the food stalls are sensational and the floats in the parade dazzle the eyes. Bring a healthy appetite along to Carnival, as there are patties, curries, jerk chicken and fried plantain from the street stalls to sink your teeth into.

Besides, different events are organized, from family events to late night after parties, there's something for everyone. It's taking place on Sunday and Monday this year, so if you fancy a two day celebration head on over, you won't be disappointed.

2. Camden Beach

Camden beach returns every summer to Camden's streets, open to 1pm from July 27 to August 24. So if you can't get to the beach this summer, they bring the beach for you! Think 900 square metres and 150 tonnes of the finest sand completed with deck chairs and beach huts. You'll also find attractions as ping pong, live music, tasty food, ice-cold drinks, an ice-cream van and loads more. And not one but two pop up restaurants are set in the beach: Made in Camden's Fishy Business, serving sea bass, mussels and fish and chips, and American barbecue.

3. Ciderfest

Celebrate the wonder of apples and their alcoholic properties with more than 20 varieties of English cider and perry during the August bank holiday weekend.
From Friday until Monday at one of North London's finest pubs there'll be a celebration of all things alcoholic and fruity. Add to this the live music DJ's set to appear throughout and good times are guaranteed.
