Guy Fawkes Night: Where to see fireworks?
Remember, remember the 5th of November… We sure did! London culture is home to Guy Fawkes night, where we eat toffee apples, light bonfires and set off fireworks. For those of you who don’t know about Bonfire night, or who Guy Fawkes even is? We are here to help. Dated back in 1605 there was a man called Guy Fawkes. He set an elaborate plan to blow up the Houses of Parliment, however, his plan was discovered and he failed. This failure is now celebrated with a bonfire, occasionally some people will burn effigies of Guy Fawkes. This is to symbolise the fall of the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Gone are the days when you would stand in an empty field with a few fireworks and a sparkler. London has taken this night and spread it across a few days. If you are in London you will hear fireworks going off the days leading up to November 5th and the days after.
